Distillery Tour Guide

Cedar Ridge is hiring Distillery Tour Guides

Cedar Ridge is not only a bar that serves craft cocktails with Iowa-Made spirits, we are also a restaurant, event center, visitor center, winery, and distillery. The staff holds a key role in the guest experience by representing each of these areas that live under one roof. From our spirits to our team members we aim to provide our guests with an Authentic by Nature experience when they visit Cedar Ridge Winery and Distillery.

Qualifications for Distillery Tour Guide

  • Knowledge of Distilling Process: Understanding the production process of spirits (fermentation, distillation, aging, etc.) and the different types of spirits produced at our distillery (e.g., whiskey, gin, rum).
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to engage, educate, and entertain diverse groups of visitors. Clear and confident public speaking abilities are essential.
  • Passion for Spirits and the Industry: A genuine interest in the distillation process, the history of the distillery, and the craft of spirit production.
  • Customer Service Experience: Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, or customer-facing roles is a plus. The ability to create an exceptional experience for visitors is key.
  • Strong Work Ethic and Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, walk around the distillery, and lead tours in a fast-paced environment.
  • Responsible Alcohol Handling: Knowledge of local alcohol laws and regulations. Ability to manage tastings responsibly and ensure guest safety during tours.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in delivering information about our distillery, products, and history, ensuring a high-quality experience for every visitor.
  • Team Player: Ability to work closely with other staff members to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Enthusiasm for Education: Ability to simplify complex topics and share your passion for distillation with guests, from beginners to enthusiasts.
  • Foreign Language Skills (Optional): Knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Spanish, French) is a plus, especially for international guests.
  • Previous Experience (Preferred): Experience as a tour guide or in the beverage industry is a plus, but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.

Part Time only (10-16 hours/week)

Average pay including tips is $11-$20 per hour

Physical setting: Bar/Distillery/Vineyard

Supplemental pay types: Tips

Experience:

  • Bartending: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Distillery: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Restaurant Experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Location: In Person Swisher Iowa
